Recognizing the transformative impact of international learning experiences,
the William & Sharon Flynn International Study Abroad Opportunity Fund provides grants for undergraduate and graduate students for international study related to their academic area(s) of interest. To qualify for this grant, applicants must be engaged in an intensive language experience that emphasizes in-depth experiential learning and/or scholarly research. This scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis, with preference given to those students who demonstrate financial need. Current matriculated undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Rhode Island (URI) in any academic field who are engaged in a credit-bearing intensive language experience that emphasizes in-depth experiential learning and/or scholarly research. Applicants must be participating in a program that is at least one month in duration during the upcoming summer term or fall semester, spring semester, or for the academic year. Since its inception during the 2016-2017 academic year, more than 50 URI students have received scholarships to help fund their study abroad experiences thanks to the William & Sharon Flynn International Study Abroad Fund.
